White Space

Paragraphing isn't a hot topic of conversation among students (or teachers) when it comes to creative writing.

However, I've had some fascinating discussions with students over the past week over where we put paragraph breaks.

Although there are formulas we teach (like TiPToP), when it comes to creative writing, you can do just about anything.

Similarly, the white space that a paragraph break creates is just as interesting as the shift in the topic itself. What effect and feeling does it create when we see words isolated like the poem below?
